High school home coming in a pink sand beach island
It was a great time and full of fun for bonding with high school We finally had the chance to actually see and hold the inverted sting-less stingray at the lagoon area. It was well preserved lagoon with great mangrove trees. We also saw the roosting fruit bats in the nearby trees. Unfortunately, we were not able to go deeper inside the lagoon due to low tide.
Close to nature and well-kept, very good facilities. It’s all up to you visitors to keep it such, so don’t spoil it.
Amazing pink beach
Our class reunion brought me to t Sta Cruz Island . was a perfect place to bond with friends. The Island is 15 mins boat ride from the urban Zamboanga City. It is a is a protected area hence, it has no nonsense environmental rules and regulations, But, definitely those environmental policy will not in anyway stop you from having an amazing beach experience,
1- Earlier reservation with the local Tourism Office is required prior to the visiit,
2- Beach time is only upto 2 pm
3. I have not notice PWD facilty
enjoyed our trip
Took the Sta.Cruz tour care of our iTravel guide, thank goodness we did not DIY going there. We were able to go on the 8am boat so got to Great Sta.Cruz island earlier than the crowds so we got to choose a nice shed, got to choose fresh catch from local fishermen and asked them to prepare for our lunch. After setting down our stuff, a) we went on a lagoon tour where we enjoyed the sights, learned about male&female mangroves, saw/touched stingless jellyfishes then we b) rode a vinta followed by c) a trip to the sandbar at the Little Sta.Cruz island before d) we headed back to our shed for some swimming and then our seafood lunch!
Found out that most visitors to the Sta.Cruz island just end up staying at the pink beach. Both my wife and I enjoyed the tour - yes, our original goal was to see the pink beach but the tour as prepared by our iTravel Tour guide made it much more interesting/worthwhile - plus, it was a way of supporting the local community!
Nice island but few amenities
We went to the island with a security escort. We didn’t get to swim but found the island to be clean and at least when we ere there - not crowded. It was clean and we ate grilled seafood that we got from what looked like local fishermen with their fresh catch. The island surely has a lot of potential for tourism but they have to be careful it doesnt get over-developed. And then, of course, there’s the security concern...
